ABOUT
THE ARTIST
I am a professional potter
who has refined the craft of making oil lamps exclusively
since 1970. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from
Ohio University. College allowed me to investigate many
medias, but it was not until after college that I discovered
clay and began to self-teach the pottery craft.
My adventure
began in a 4' x 6' studio, in the back of a school bus traveling
home, after leaving my first
9 - 5 job as an Art Gallery Director in Boston. It has evolved
to my present location on a 22 acre farm in Pennsylvania,
where I work with my wife, Vive. Together, we explore and
specialize in the creation of the pottery oil lamp.
Our oil lamps
are sold to galleries and craft shops nationally, through
a few select art festivals in Eastern U.S., and to private
collections internationally.
Quality and gracefulness
are combined in each oil lamp created - to give pleasure
to your eye and heart. We use the flame to complete the
flowing oil lamp forms - to give each one the desired physical
balance in the combination of clay and fire.
By specializing
in oil lamps exclusively for 37 years,
we have been able to extensively investigate, experiment,
and refine to the smallest details all the intricate possibilities
related to the crafting of the oil lamp.
